Summer Camp - 26
During our five-day camp at the University of Central Florida (UCF), we brought together local marginalized high school students to build the habits of critical thinking, media
literacy, and responsible digital citizenship while building the skills needed to navigate
today’s information landscape with confidence so that they can lead in college and
beyond.

Educate 2
Liberate Academy
On July 2nd, we welcomed our inaugural cohort of Educate to Liberate Academy scholars for five days of learning and community building. Together, we explored critical thinking, media literacy, and responsible digital citizenship while building the skills needed to navigate today’s information landscape with confidence.
Our
Impact
The UCF residential camp welcomed 10 rising seniors and 2 rising juniors representing 8 different high schools in Orlando, Florida.

Our Curriculum
Throughout our Critical Thinking curriculum, our scholars learned practical tools for evaluating arguments based on evidence and logic. They explored formal logic by identifying premises and conclusions, examined whether evidence actually supported a claim, and learned to recognize common logical fallacies while consuming content online
Media
Literacy
Together, we discussed investigative journalism, the scientific method, academic research, and the work that goes into producing credible sources. Scholars worked together to organize different types of sources into a hierarchy based on credibility before comparing their reasoning as a group.
