College Access Programming
Our approach to college access extends beyond helping students gain admission to college. We seek to help students maximize the value of their higher education experience by exposing the “hidden curriculum” that students miss due to a lack of social capital and access.
College Application Support
Every E2LA summer camp alumnus receives continued college application support throughout the admissions process. This includes personal statement workshops, individualized coaching, and an asynchronous feedback program in which each student is paired with two trained volunteer readers who provide multiple rounds of detailed feedback on personal statements, supplemental essays, résumés, scholarship applications, and other admissions materials. This support is also available to non-E2LA students as a standalone service offered by the organization.

Professional Development and Maximizing The College Experience
For many first-generation and low-income students, getting into college is only the beginning. Success in higher education increasingly depends on skills and knowledge that are rarely taught explicitly, including networking, interviewing, résumé development, personal branding, internship recruitment, fellowship applications, and professional communication. Unfortunately, going to class and graduating is the bare minimum. Students who are unfamiliar with these "hidden rules" often miss valuable opportunities simply because they were never exposed to them.
